Case Study 1

An Organization Chart of New Century's Office Staff

Identify at least three business processes that New Century performs and explain who is responsible for the specific tasks.

*Fred Brown is in control with payroll, tax reporting, and profit distribution processes.

*Susan Gifford is responsible in keeping and doing the patient records in the clinic.

*The insurance reporting & accounting are in charge to Tom Capaletti.

*Lisa Sung is responsible in appointment processing.

*In making orders and organizing office and clinic supplies, Carla Herrera is the one facilitating it.

Explain how New Century might use a transaction processing system, a business support system, and a user productivity system. For each type of system, provide a specific example, and explain how the system would benefit the clinic.

-New Century Health Clinic might use a transaction processing system for appointment processing that ensures the integrity, availability, and security of data and it also ensures fast response time and high transaction throughout.  It includes functions to access data, to perform intercomputer communications, and to design and manage the user interface.

-New Century might also consider using a business support system for its patient records that will provide information support for users having to deal with patients. It is used to support billing & charging.

-New Century Health Clinjc might use the user productivity system because it needs a database management system that will help user access patient records faster. An information system that provides employees at all organizational levels with a wide array of tools that can improve quality and job performance. An example of a user productivity system is an e-mail system.

During the systems development process, should New Century consider any of the following: B2B, vertical and horizontal system packages, or the Internet? Explain your answers.
New Century might consider B2B for its claims and payment transactions with insurance companies. B2B is also used in the context of communication and collaboration. Many businesses are now using social media to connect with their consumers (B2C); however, they are now using similar tools within the business so employees can connect with one another. When communication is taking place amongst employees, this can be referred to as "B2B" communication.
